Today 7 daft anglers which included a lady member, fished a terrible day in rain and a cold wind on The Tyne at a new venue for us at The Hub Carpark on the North side of the Tyne after Micks recommendation.
The Comp was fished an hour before high tide from 08:30hrs until 12:30hrs, on a catch and release scoring system using SAMF scorecards.
Peter Chadwick was soon into a flounder using Ragworm with a short cast of around twenty metres, and this appeared to be the range for the rest of his fish for the remainder of the Comp, Peter was the most consistent throughout the day using this method, and soon he was troubling the scorer with flounders every other catch. With about an hour to go, he received a small bite and a bit of a slack liner resulting in a nice plump clean Codling being landed measuring 43cms, giving him a nice 80pts.
The rest of the lads pulled out the odd fish but struggled to make up ground on Peter.
Well done Peter, you done well today, and it's the only time I have been happy to see the end of a Comp. Drowned Rat comes to mind.!!! NICE NEW COMFORTABLE LOCATION WITH CAR NEXT TO YOU, BUT CRAP WEATHER..
