Nine Adults and one junior turned out to fish this match on The Tyne next to The Schooner Pub at Gateshead. The Comp was fished between 11am and 3pm on a rising Big Tide.
The match was pegged and all anglers fished the same bait pack of Rag,Lug and maki, and straight measurement taken regardless of species, with longest total and longest fish prize.
Junior angler young Josh Pool was straight into a nice little codling of 22cm with his Grandad Dave, soon following.
Most anglers were into the fish as the tide pushed in, but as soon as the tide began to rip through, it slowed down the bites.
Stevie "The Tyne" Elliott brought a nice 32cm Flounder to the side which proved to be the longest on the day.
All anglers caught on the day with fish measuring 18cm or more counting, with Codling, flounder, Coley, Whiting and Eels showing.
Lovely day out and a pleasant location.
Peter Chadwick and Mick Dunn fishing next to each other in the middle pegs obviously had the best area to themselves and it was nip n tuck all the way to the end with Peter just pipping Mick " Route 66 " Dunn at the final whistle by a mere 5cm...yes size does matter Mick.
