21 members fished the pier in the hope of big bags like a fortnight ago. Only 10 weighed in and I have only got the 3 top weights.

1st Dave Bentley 2 cod, 1 whit 4 lb 12 ozs
2nd Roy Wheaton 3 whit, 2 dabs 3 lb 5 ozs
3rd Tony Taylor 3 whit, 2 dabs 3 lb 2 ozs

h/f cod 2 lb 6 ozs Dave Bentley

Well done all and a good turn out for the wrinkleys spoke to davey yesterday and he told me one of the lads hooked into a 5-8lb ling but it was lost on the lift .

A poor day on the pier yesterday, spoilt by tons of eating crabs grabbing baits as soon as they touched bottom. There must be millions of them!
There was however a bit of really bad luck. I was fishing the mid sections of the pier and noticed Wilf Reed struggling with what appeared to be a large fish a couple of pegs further down. I went down to see if I could help. The fish kept deep and I suspected a big cod. Suddenly there was colour and a tremendous ling broke surface. Unfortunately the Ling had wrapped itself round the line of the adjoining angler and there was no way it could be walked to the steps. There was only one thing to do and that was to attempt a lift. I offered to do it and Wilf agreed. I managed to get the Lings head out of the water before the trace snapped. I was gutted ,so was Wilf. The Ling was ok and it swam away as if nothing had happened. I have no idea how heavy it was but it is the best Ling I have ever seen hooked from the shore.

Cheers for the write up tony shame about the ling but suppose its part and parcel of pier fishing ..thats the good thing about tynemouth pier though you never know what it may throw up

cheers for the results, what a shame about the ling wudnt a mind seeing the pick if he managed the lift
