Way to go Davy…a little birdy on Blyth Beach told me you'd got three at about 9 o'clock from your old haunt Those few weeks resting up seem like a good idea!
still haven't been back to sh..t hill no confidence on my own. davy.
Know what you mean Davy, confidence is a wonderful thing.
Rod and me fished the Bathing Pool on the Friday before the NESA comp and, as it was such a big tide, we quickly ended up at the top of the skeers. For those who don't know, the rocks are easy walking but are layered with weir cows, not seaweed, making for unpredictable walking. I rarely use a lamp, except for baiting up and I find that I can cope well enough with a bit of soft shoe shuffling back to my mark. Rod, on the other hand, uses his lamp all the time, leaving it on a rock to get back again. Rod left about midnight, having to go to work on the Saturday and I thought, hmmmm on my own, top of the skeers, canny sea on, better use the lamp. Got back to the top of the skeers, put the lamp down, caught a fish and spent the next 20 minutes looking for the blood* lamp that had obviously been blown off the rocks and into the water.
Saturday we fished the same mark and started on the beach again. Half an hour in 3 lads turned up and went up the skeers but they were too early so we're casting over us. Having pulled them in twice (my 60lb line beats your 25lb line lol) we had to go past them and fish the skeers as well. Walking past them, having explained why we were doing what we were doing, one of the lads said "have you got a light?" "Yes" I said...."Can you see?" "Yes" I said and carried on up the skeers. Not sure what he really thought but as long as you're happy with what you're doing you're fine. As soon as doubt sets in better safe than sorry.
