Today we held our annual trip to Embleton, in search of the elusive Turbot in a Comp fished between 0930 hrs and 1430hrs, on an incoming tide in bright sunshine.
Ten adult members and one junior fished the Comp using SAMF score chart for all fish over 18cms after some late call offs and holiday period.
Today was a bit hitty missy for the anglers, with most into fish at the start of the Comp. The couple of hours before high tide proved to be the most productive with some canny Dabs n Flounders showing.
Young Luke was into a double shot having identified a nice hole in front of him, this appeared to give him over confidence, as he quickly stated that he was going to kick his Dads Butt in the Comp and leave with all the prizemoney.
Well most anglers continued to pull out a few smallish flatfish adding points to their totals, but still no Turbot.
Around half n hour before the top of the tide, Ian Ainsley gets a cracking pull down on his rod which was not the usual Flattie bite, this results in a slack liner with the line heading north, a quick strike and minutes later a lively plump 30 cm Turbot giving Ian 64 pts from the SAMF chart.
From top of he tide things began to slow down, with only Simon Cutter making any attempt to catch up with the leader, pulling out a good half dozen fish without anyone else landing.
Overal another pleasant day on the golden sands with ALL fish being returned alive after measuring.
All fish taking Ragworm tipped with fish bait, with the worm again being good quality supplied and kindly delivered by Terry from REELSPORT, thanks Terry.
A good effort by young Luke to come second to his Dad, but like a previous school report once said. MUST TRY HARDER SON lol.

    RESULT.

    1st Ian Ainsley 9 x fish for 129pts
    2nd Luke Ainsley 10 x fish for 80pts
    3rd Simon Cutter 7 x fish for 79pts
    4th Ian Jackson 3 x fish for 38pts
    5th Mick Dunn 4 x fish for 33pts
    6th David Thynne 2 x fish for 26pts
    7th Peter Chadwick 3 x fish for 20pts

Longest fish Ian Ainsley 30cm Turbot

Thanks Chut for cracking day. Some lovely totty on the beach perked me up a bit during the fishing lull and a nice cold pint in the golf club before heading home.
    Mick.
