Fishing the pilot

Nice photo Eddie H must be going back some time ago and it looks busy with just a couple fishing the end

gone are those days remember my first fish caught off there when i was six it down on the right hand side on the steps but everything changed when they put them stupid breaker blocks round the end and then put the fence up round the pilot light

it needed a good s/e wind to get rough in there and still does. 8lb fish were common.

H.A.D.S.A.C had there club house at the base of the pier.

there used to be metal rings in the concrete at the base of the wall. you could jam your rod but in them.

i once saw an 8ft fibreglass rod get snapped as a fish was biting. the fish was pulling so hard and the but jammed in the ring it snapped the rod.

there used to be a wooden ramp just above the steps for getting onto the top level.
