      I remember the vending machine on the side of temples salted rag that's all was left if you never got there early enough.

          You are judging the past with todays sensibilities! Conservation was a dirty word ( I work as a biologist these days, specialising in conservation), angling and anglers have moved on from those days. Kept friend and neighbours in fish for a long time. Look at old copies of the magazines from those days and it will shock you, like I said do not judge the past...
