I know that I dont report as much as I should but the reason is that I always keep a diary of my fishing and after I have wrote that I can never be bothered to type out a report (plus i never catch owt lol).
Anyway, I had decided to go and fish the tops this morning. Weather conditions did not bode well, No wind to speak of, air pressure was 1033 at 13m above sea level(whalehill) temprature was 11c.
Thought I would drop into Whitby first for a chat with some of the lads and to see if anything was being caught.
Got to Whitby at 01.00, not a sole to be seen (wierd), the sea had a lovely swell on, of about 2.5 to 3m, wind seemed to be an easterly.
I could not let them conditions go to waste, so I thought I would have a quick chuck.
Armed with Peeler, defrosted mussel, rag and squid, Two rods (tip tornado and a 50/50) married with a mag elite and a mag 525.
Terminal tackle was a clipped down 2/0 at the top and a 2/0 pulley at the bottom.
First chuck a rather big rockling, I thought oh no here we go again!! I should of carried on to the tops!!.
Still I was here now, so out my gear goes out again, bang a red codling of about 2lb, out again bang a nice fresh run 3lber, that was the pattern for the next few hours.
In the end I had 1 rockling, 6 codling of around 1-1.5lb a 2lber and a 3lber.(2 more that were smaller than my bait)
Had a massive crack off just after high water and thought-- thats it I've had enough, plus there was an awful lot of weed.
All but the 3lber went back itofight another day.
