  • New reel.

I\'m after a new reel to use for beach and clean ground work, looking at either a daiwa 7HT turbo or a penn 525 tourna mag, anybody got one or used one, or heard horror storys about either reel ?

Davey managed to find this off another site for you mate:

The new Daiwa Millionaire 7HT Turbo are the dogs bollocks. Recently bought one and I am not lying in saying that it the smoothest casting reel I have ever used. Wide spool and robust one piece cage allowing you to get your thumb right over the spool. Comfortable handle grip, smooth retrieve and an excellent star drag. If the gears stand the test of time then I can see this reel going real far. It does not have a ratchet and the metallic red finish is likely to scratch off. Retrieve ratio of 5.2:1 does not compare to the SL20 or Pen 525 but the ability to rotate the handle with ease allows for quicker hand speed and more turns.

there\'s always two sides of a story...
and theres always loads of different opinions, mostly everything is going to get positive\'s (like my post) and a negative review (similar to yours), but thats what helps make the decision in buying a reel or not...

i have got both reels and use both a hell of a lot out of the two i would always go for the 525 they seem to be as smooth as the diawa and a lot more robust but like everything else it is down to personal preferance
cant catch sitting in the hoose

Well yes and no to be honest ,Abu 6500 mag elite ,great reel as well but not too sure if it\'s better as the retrieval rate is slower.
PS I\'m an Abu lover waiting to be converted.
