  • Ceramic inserts

When is someone going to design a set of guides that you can replace the ceramics instead of having the hassle of rewhipping a new guide on , so frustrating when the slightest tap shatters the insert !

I'll second that. All my rods are done in them now. Even if you really clunk them and bend them you can bend them back to shape and stay fishing!

cheap rods have cheap guides that do break on the slightest tap . some greys ,soniks especially , I have owned certain greys and conoflex rods that have fallen onto concrete and rock shots and have survived unscathed .

                    ceramic inserts

I work for a plastic injection moulder and boss reckons it would be a doodle to do just need a mould made and the basic design of rings is prehistoric

we should have ringless rods in 2013 where the line passes through the rods centre

They have been out for years mate, Daiwa do a range of boat rods called "Interline", you have to use a draw wire to thread your line through at first or so I'm told.

As for beachcasters I remember in the 70's a rod called the "cyclops" where the line ran through the middle, can't remember who made it though.

                        Regards Ian

also it cannot just be any old plastic in a manner of speaking the hardness of the liner counts for a lot [vickers] sic,s are diamond polished so the line glides threw plus the mono heats up when going through the guides certain guides disapitate the heat away better than others espesically on big game rods were fish are likely to give powerful runs and the heat generated is at it,s greatest and could possibly snap costing you a fish of a life time and then thier is the tourney lads when casting that extra yard can be a mile stone
