  • My trip to the Mull

Left Consett about 7am wednesday for the long drive to Portpatrick. Arrived about 10.30 after popping into Stanraer for some bait. After quickly setting up my tent i went to fish The Green isle. As it was the first time I had been in the area i wsnt expecting much.

I found the mark easily using directions fiven by a member on here. Used a variety of baits rag, mackerel,,sandeel and launce. Also tried the spinner and a small red gill.

I fished from about 12 til 8pm. The result? I had 4 mackerel, 2 pollock, a coley, a tiny tiny see through flattie and about 15 doggies. The place was teaming with doggies!! Still i caught my first doggie from the shore and my first ever pollock.

On my way back to the car I also had a bit spin from the harbour for 20mins but nothing doing.I returned all fish apart from 3 of the mackerel which i used as bait Heres some pics

Thursday I drove to a mark near the end of the mull again suggested by a forum member. Bloody hell what a steep climb to get there! Being on my own I nearly bottled it!! I did\'n\'t want to fall and not be able to get any help.

This mark was a tackle graveyard, Lost about a dozen sets of gear during the day. Not many fish here but out of six fish had five different species. Two of which were firsts for me!

Also how strong are the tides here? Fishing with the float which produced lots of bites but only 3 fish was like trotting in a fast flowing river!

The result of fisjing from 11am til 7.30pm? two pollack, a mackerel, a doggie, a small wrasse (my first ever) and a conger!!!!!(first time i have seen one let ablone caught one)

After the long climb back up the cliff i was wrecked!! The after packing up the tent a drive home playing fuel warningg light chicken! Does scotland not do 24hr petrol stations?

Which mark did you fish at the end of the Mull \"the wall\" mark, straight down from the lighyhouse car park ?

Yes thats where i fished. Bloody steep!

The pics turned out ok! Especially the ones with me in considering my crappy camera was on timer and was balanced on a wonky rock!
