Hi John, I find ragworm fishes better from september onwards until the hard frosts then i use lug, or lug/ rag cocktails, every angler has their own idea of the best bait, but it is the season and sea conditions which tell us what fish will be feeding on. when winter really kicks in, most fish will take any bait ,but if the winter is mild, you have to tempt them with crab cocktails. After a big east/northeasterley when there is still a good lift on the sea i prefer to use big juicy lug/mussel coctails. hope this helps jim

good reply stickler like you say depends on seaconditions and area fishing cant beet crab/mussel cocktail here from september till november then its yellow tail lug and blow lug for cod till feb then back onto the crab/mussel but rag alone takes fish so does frozen runny down tiped with squid each to there own i suppose

for consistant cod fishing lugworm still accounts for most fish , if there is a run of small fish during sept i fing lug not crab catches most mind you i love crab, but some of my mates hendon and harbour lads say ragworm can come into its own early and back end of season mainly fishing mixed ground, did you know panel pins comes in diff sizes ?

I have to say I\'ve been making sure I\'ve got a couple of hundred frozen crab for this winter but I\'ve still caught most of my codling on a few lugworm or lug/muscle. I seem to have caught more regularly than others I know using crab as well. In fact why have I kept this crab farm going through the summer???????Put back what you don't need.
