  • New rod is too big

Hi all i bought myself a Daiwa Tournament x rod but its too big to get on the bus , i was wondering how to take about 6 inches off the but section would it be ok to just use a small hack saw. It,s 7foot 6" now and i want to take it down to 7foot,or would i just be better off swapping it for a different rod.
    Thanks

Hi if you chop it you'll de-value it instantly if your not bothered about selling in the future go for it if not just sell or swap get something the size you require.

Can't you get on a bigger bus ;-)
Excuse my ignorance as I don't use buses but why does it have to be 7 ft? Can the driver really tell the difference in 6" just by looking at it ?

Haha, classic! How can it be too big? I mean if it comes in two sections, the longest section can't be more than 6ft! Loads of passengers must be over 6ft! I am confused! Mind you I had to sell a beach caster because it was too big for our new car, which was pretty embarrassing!

Why don't you look for a smaller but section instead of cutting the one you've got. That way if you ever want to sell it you can sell it compleat.
You know it makes sense RODNEY

dont cut owt off you will spoil the rod .
i use carbon metal crest and the tip is 7'6''and not have a problem geting on bus
even though a few of the buses i use are slightly lower, all i can say just be extra careful when using the bus as 1 or 2 of the drivers are a right pain but most are really great about me about me and my gear and get on well with the drivers, also i use bout 12 -16 buses a week and have done for the last 13 years and only had hassle off a 1/2dozen drivers and 1or 2 passengers also try to use the buses on slack periods when going and coming back from fishing as you find there more room for on bus, especially the luggage rack for your tackle box or bag

                          Chop my new rod

Thanks for all the reply's but i am selling the rod to a m8 for £100 and going to put it towards a new rod equal 6 1/2 foot sections that will end all the hassle.

Wouldn't you have to cut the tip as well? I'm sure these are equal section or if not the tip will be longer than the butt so won't make any difference

If its a female driver she'll know what 6" is
