  • New to the area

Am moving to cullercoats after 14 years in the army in the next few months. Am originally from Middlesbrough and usually fish between the tees and Whitby. Have not fished the Tyne for 20 years or so. Is like a new adventure, new places to fish ect.
Am a winter rock fisherman at heart, sadly I know none of the marks locally. Am looking for a fishing club and maybe a few lads to go fishing with come the autumn. And a bit of football banter thrown in for good measure :-p

Hi mate, if you want any info regarding Whitley Bay club just let me know - you've also got Tynemouth (who also get to fish the Pier) and the man to speak to if you want info on them is davidhayley1945 (on here).

We both fish pretty much the same ground, from Blyth to Tynemouth, and it's pretty much all heavy ground & rock-end fishing (with the exception of Blyth Beach). Whitley's winter season picks up at the beginning of September, after a break for our open summer matches - the dates for those are in a sticky at the top of the page. They're all fished up the coast from Howick up to Beadnell and all are welcome, not just club members. In fact they're a great way for learning the marks up there as they tend to be pretty relaxed and we get some very good anglers fishing them, who are usually only too happy to share a bit of knowledge.

Lastly, if you haven't got it already, I'd recommend a copy of David Storey's "Codling Crouch" - as well as being a good read in it's own right, there's some good info on marks around Tynemouth.

Can't help with the footy banter though I'm afraid - I long ago lost all interest in the game!
