  • Frozen peeler crab advice please

    Hi

Got some whole frozen peeler and I am wondering roughly how long it would take to defrost before it can be peeled and put on the hook ?

Just so I don't take too much out of the flask too early and ruin it.

    Many thanks for any advice.

It would take a little longer to defrost if still in the shell, I normally take 2-3 out of the flask at the start of a session then go from there.
With the weather a lot warmer now it won't take long at all for them to soften enough to get on the hook.

Depends how hot it is. Summer/Winter. But I usually give it 5-10 mins.
GET OUT THERE AND STICK A BAIT IN IT !!!

You can defrost them in your hands in about 5 mins , only take out one at a time
        I am a fisherman !
It is not merely something that I do
It is who I am !
Fishing is not simply my escape.
It is where I am supposed to be.
It is not a place that I go
But a lifelong journey that I am taking
It is a passage that was shown to me and that I will continue to show others.
When you understand all of this you will then know me .
        And we will fish together

Thanks for the advice lads. They were advertised as devon peeler crab. They are big uns like and the top shell sort of "crackles" when you press it. They look like peelers to me. I will use them next week up in Scotland anyway in case I can't get enough fresh. See how I get on. Gonna try for a hound with big crab baits.

They sound like softies mate, still a resonable bait but not as good as propperly prepared peelers. U might sldo find its still a bit early for smoothies yet but best of luck

Peeled one as a test yesterday and it came to bits fine. There was a kind of thin skin shell under the main shell which just lifted straight off. I will give them a go anyway. Ta for the advice lads. Will let you know how I get on.
