  • Mackerel Fishing Bamburgh

Hi, I am about to spend a week at a caravan site north of Bamburgh. After a break of about 20 yrs I\'m about to get my rod out and try a bit of light spinning. Does anybody know of any marks along the Bamburgh to Holy Island stretch where it would be possible to catch any mackerel.
Sickened to hear of the louts needlessly killing mackerel, thought things would be better in this day and age.

      Hi Morgs.
try Seahouses Harbour entrance, or the Back of the Lime kilns on Beadnell harbour, near high tide, cast down the north side of the main skeer into the white water as it comes over the skeer, If yyuve never been, just walk down the skeer. its easy, but water to twenty feet deep on the north side. so be careful.
Ive had Pollack off there 5 plus and 6 plus on a spinner.
Maker and inventor of CANNYLINKS, the best rotten bottom system bar none. IMHO!

          Hi Morgs,

It sounds like you are staying at Warren Caravan park, as suggested, the harbour wall at Seahouses is worth a chuck.

As an alternative bring your passport and have a shot over the border into Scotland...

Eyemouth is only 40 mins from Warren. If you come into Eyemouth and turn right at the first roundabout you will go down the new road heading for the south side of the harbour. Park up on the right hand side of the road, near the bottom, and walk through the golf course, look for an accessible outcrop and give it a hoy with some daylights.

Try to fish as near to HW as possible and look for a bigger tide. You should get one or two there.

Take a spinning rod as well as there are a few Pollock about at the moment.

          Neil.

Just got back from Bamburgh and read the postings. Thanks V much for the help and advice. I tried a bit spinning from the rocks at the far left of bamburgh castle but there was nothing doing.

I\'ll try out all the suggested spots when I go for a week which is the weekend after next. I\'ll let you know how I get on.

I went for a drive to a pace called Burnmouth, what a place that is, full of character must never have changed much for hundreds of years. I was told by a local that I would catch mackerel at high tide from the harbour wall. anyone tried it?
