WEST HOUSE FISHING REPORT 08/05/13
Wrest House has been fishing well this week with Michael Gray of Durham taking a superb 11lb fish. There are quite a few 4lb+ fish being caught with the majority averaging 2lb 8oz to 3lb. Fish have fallen to a variety of flies including olive damsels, montanas, white fritz, stalking bugs, beetles and buzzers. Most fish are being caught shallow on floating lines and slow retrieve with some fish stalked in the margins.. The fishery is looking fantastic in its Spring colours with plenty of flies hatching and whizzing around the lakes along with plenty of other wildlife too.
Robert Peel of Newcastle had 10 fish on a Black Buzzer while Alan Graham also of Newcastle caught 23 on buzzers and hares ear nymphs. Jim Bonner of Thirsk enjoyed a fantastic days fishing catching 18 fish all on small damsel imitations and Jeff Smith fished Crisp packet buzzers to catch his 13 fish. Jim Armstrong from Leyburn had a good days sport catching 17 fish in total, Jim took some of his fish on Black beetles and the rest on small dry flies which are also starting to do well. On the warmer evenings the lake comes alive as the sun drops and the dry fly sport can be fantastic, small cdc’s, F-Fly’s and shipmans all score well.
The fishery is now open until 8pm each evening
A 4 hour sporting ticket is only £12
The lakes are now open from 8am until 7pm every day
Best Flies :- Beetles, CDC, F Fly, Pink Buzzers, Black Buzzers
