ive posted this because it seems like a good idea .
im looking for a nice new spinning rod for my 8 yr old son whoser just worn out his first proper rod. he haws grooves in his tip eye off beating his fatha at catching mackerak , but it was **** anyway.
i was thinking of an 8ft rod to 40g casting weight or thereaboutsthe 35quid mark.
somerthing he can use for troout too.
i noticed a bit of spinning rod crack elsewhere on the forum , maybe someone can recommend something to save me timd .!
    cheers mick.

For that sort of money you cant go past the Ron Thompson XCite rods

The 8\' has a casting range of 10-30g and the 9\' 15-40g. These are £25.99 and £28.99 respectively, -10% NESA discount

They are great rods with proper cork handles and a nice finish. One of the lads who works for me uses one for his Salmon fishing and loves it

The Ron Thomson Statocaster is in that price range and got an excellent review in Total Sea Fishing a couple of months ago. It\'s a 3 piece rod, so easy to transport to

          No bother

TBH I think I would opt for the 9\' version than the 8\', especially if you are fishing from the piers, etc with it. The 8\' is a little bit too short and light

If you pop in, dont forget to mention NESA for your 10% off

Narrowed mine down to a Greys 10 foot spin. It can handle up to 60g and I can chuck me fav bass popper(18g)further than the rest when fishing in Luce Bay. I know they are pricey handle well, are weightless so ok for juniors and are gaurenteed for life.
