Alreet lads and lasses, i\'ve been lucky enough to be invited to Westport in Ireland as part of a 5 day fishing trip courtesy of Anyfish Anywhere. We\'re staying in the Helm Hotel which i believe is the same place that a few lads on this site stayed at when they went over. I was hoping to get some info off you guys so i can get a bit of a head start before i get there. Sam Harris has kindly sent me his number and will soon be gettin a call so i can pick his brains but was hoping to get as much info a possible so i can make the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity, We\'re planning on going the weekend of the 7th september so any tips or advice will be put to good use(including the best bars and clubs and not forgetting scran!) :P

Lol @ Jamie about the bars and scran. I have no doubt that Ian (Grommit) will also give you some info as well as Sam. Try getting in touch with Andy Rutherford from Sunderland if you are wanting to do some shore fishing as I am sure he would be only too happy to help mate.
Jim.Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Hi Jamie
You will have a fantastic time in Westport. I was there with Sam in May and the fishing, accomadation and craic were second to none. Vinny, who is the hotel owner, and Austin, the boat skipper, cant do enough to help you.
Pop into the tackle shop in Westport, Hewitsons, and see Dougie the manager, a Fifer living in Ireland. Great guy and full of good info.
As Jim says, give Andy Rutherford a ring about the shore fishing as that is what he did when we were over there, Sam and myself did the boat fishing which was the best I have ever experienced
I would recommend the Helm where you are staying for the scran, good portions and very good quality. All the bars we visited were good but be aware that nothing really happens until 10.30 at night when things start to liven up
Did a report on our trip on here. Click here for it http://www.nesa.co.uk/modules.php?op...read&tid=10346
