I use Powerpro Super 8 Slick. It has a very round cross section being 8 strand so behaves a bit like mono in that it does not dig in on your spool the way 4 strand braids do. I use the 0.28mm which is 20kg (44lb) with 6oz leads and never crack off and have plenty of strength to pull out of snags. It can be expensive in some places but if you shop around on the net you can get it for £20 a spool Power Pro Super 8 Slick Line at low prices in the Askari Fishing online tackle shop!

The spool is shallow it holds 300 yards of 18mm braid and the braid I was using was 36mm and I couldn't get anymore on so I've changed to 10lb and got the full 300 yards onspecies 2013
