Got back this afternoon and although the fishing wasn\'t too good due to the wind we had a great weekend.

                    Will post a report tomorrow.

                    Jim.

Hard going Alan ,I\'ll let Jim put the report on but we really couldn\'t have tried harder ,personally I floated rag and sand eel at varying depths in numerous places , used spinners and daylights ,mackerel lures ,leadheads with jelly worms ,twin tails of varying colours even shads ,surface poppers and bass wedges ,bottom fished using mackerel and rag . Paul ( hiram.a.biff ) even tried fly fishing . I\'ve got a video on my camera of the six to eight feet swells that scared me off the rock I was fishing on .
PS .Great to see the boat comp. details in the Sunday Sun ,my name in print for the second time ever lol.
You can take the lad out of Walker but .......

Thats the problem with fishing Port Patrick, it has to be flat or you may as well go straight to the pub, or move over to the other side. Only try and please Steve, some more ling chunks tomoora yum, yum

Paul Hunter and Andy Norris headed up on Friday and fished the day for just a few small Coley’s. Steve Moore and I, Jim Gillett headed up to join them on Saturday morning in Portpatrick. After a hearty breakfast we drove south to Drummore and almost to The Mull where we left the car to walk to our chosen spot. The wind was blowing an absolute hoolie. We thought that after we climbed down into the bay we would get some shelter, wrong. One look at the sea told us we were in for a hard day.

Paul and Andy set up the float gear while Steve and I decided to go with the spinning rods. Nothing on either. Paul switched over to his feathers and immediately got into some small Coley’s. I decided to join him and got out some feathers with a spinner as a weight and caught a couple on the spinner and one on the feathers. Paul decided to have a go with the fly rod and despite giving it a good try from a couple of different locations had no luck.

Just on high tide the wind turned to southerly and in an instant the sea got even bigger. Steve, who was fishing on a big rock in the middle of the bay moved immediately and came to join us. Not a chance of getting washed off but he would probably have had a bit of a wetting.

Out with the big rods for a bit of ledgering and along came a few Dogfish for Steve, Andy and Paul and then nothing. A few looks at each other brought on the expected “Is that it then” and the gear was packed away for the day and we headed down to Drummore to catch the last ten minutes of the match and a pint of Guinness.

Back down to Portpatrick for a nice cooling shower and out for a couple of pints before a very nice meal on the front. Up next morning to a fantastic breakfast and along to Sandsend beach to try some Poppers for Bass. The beach looked perfect the day before but again the wind had changed making it almost impossible.

Even though the weather wasn’t the best it was still a great weekend and the digs and crack were fantastic. Just looking forward to the next time now lol.

What a report ,nice one Jim .... no mention of my six inch coalie I see lol ,and I have to agree the digs ,food and craic was brilliant and a special mention about the evening meal at the pub on the seafront ( name escapes me ) crab claws in coconut and corriander broth with half lobster thermador and mussels in thai sauce , the best meal in ages even better than the scallops and tiger prawns in garlic ,chilli and corriander that I\'ve just made .
I hope we get back up there soon .
