    has anyone fished for skate of lynburn beach any info appreciated
    did you know panel pins comes in diff sizes ?

    John, they are not skate they are thornback rays, a few years ago for about two or three years quite a lot where taken, but these where taken in the autumn and none where over 5lb. Have not heard of any for the last two three years and none during the summer. But anything is worth a try.

      I saw a couple of thornbacks caught on Seaham Hall beach about 15 years ago. Again this was late summer / early autumn.

          hi Burnzie ,thanks for reply and welcome to board,the caves area is were you used to get odd thornback big tide low water settled conditions , i also know of someone who caught a 25lb conger ell off there years ago dick shenton, back to lynburn lou marsden went up there last year after thornies only thing he got though was a 9lb cod i was told.

            welcome burnzie, i caught a thornie off the wreck off south shields big beach when i was a kid in the summer hols , it weighed 11lb . they are still around if very localised . jim
