  • whats a decent rod for up to £150

    need a good beach caster 13-14ft and for it to be good for the north east sea. but it has to be reliable and not brake easy.???

    Again what sort of ground you looking to use the rod on ?

    Clean beaches mixed ground heavy kelp and rocks

    You want new rod or second hand
    What length you after

      hi david emm i think just a mix to be honest been told that the ron thompson axellerator are goo but just wanna see what else is out there also the sonik sk3 but don't like the fact that they are known to snap. and 13ft-14ft and brand new preferred like.

        Rods only snap because there not used correctly mate. Axcellerators are great rough ground rods especially for the money if I was you I'd buy a second hand century kompressor ss will handle anything you throw at it.

        I own the komp ss and would never part with it i absolutely love mine as does a canny few lads on here

          I use an Axcellerator more than any other rod. Ok, it's like using a telephone pole but it doesn't flap around in a breeze & coupled with a Mag 535 you can pull trawlers in. If It's calm & on smooth ground I use a Penn Surfblaster with a Mag 525 for better distance.

            conoflex anubis plus 14 foot , casting weight 7oz .... £150 , black and gold whippings.... all rods are different , its what you as the user find correct to you .

              I use both these rods, the Ax for the heavy ground and the Sonik for the piers and beach both great rods.

                If ya after a new all rounder try a abu esprit 13foot , has a sliding reel seat and you can get them for under £100 new great rod I wouldn't part with mine but no good in the kelp , great for beaches piers and the river and some rock marks
