Don\'t believe so mate. It\'s not just a question of opening it - a new footbridge needs to be built. Hopefully the petition will speed things up.

just were there for a weeks break fancy a bit sumer fishing does the river produce flatties ect or near by beach ?

Upgang and Sandsend beach can be great fun in the warmer months. At high water you can\'t go wrong with Sandsend car park, unless it is full of cars!

For Sandsend and Upgang (both covered on my website: http://www.photorecce.co.uk) I like to use the rig described here:

The only 2 baits I use are ragworm and whole small sandeel. Fishing at night can really pay off.

You can still fish the main part of the East Pier, it\'s just that you can\'t get out to the extension. It\'s still worth going on here and float fishing for mackerel - If there\'s anyone else on there I\'d be shocked. I also heard last year of a surprise garfish coming off there to floatfished mackerel! At this time of year I avoid the west pier like the plague!
