Can any kind person out there tell me where Sugar Sands is please.
Also: What\'s the best state of the tide to fish it, & what sort of fish can you expect at this time of year ?

As you drive into Longhoughton village, look out for the Low Steads road, on your right (before you get to the village store).
Follow the road down till you come to the small car park.
The bay in front of you is Howdiment, Sugar Sands is the next bay north, not a long walk !
I don`t think it`s been fishing very well for the past few months, though.

just before you get to Spar shop in Longhoughton turn right down CROW HALL ROAD ,you have to put 20p inthe box on wall to go through farmyard then straight down to car parking area thro second gate the far bay ( north ) produces nice plaice & flounders on an incoming tide in front of bridge where stream runs into sea . have won 3 club comps at this spot in the past . GOOD LUCK .
Lol Tony....youre right farm where you put the money in the box is Lowsteads road and the road you take to get there is Crowlea.

Howdiemont is the first bay, used to fish really well in the winter, not done too good past couple of years. Have heard of people getting wrasse from the right hand side of the bay(towards the bridge at Sandlins Burn) but seen nowt meself).
Sugar Sands is the next bay north, again used to fish really well in the winter but not been so good past few years. Had a few flatties there in the summer and the Burn at Howick where the bridge is does indeed produce some nice flatties as well.
If it\'s flatties you\'re after you\'d be better heading for Alnmouth or Warkworth.
If you hold back a bit once the Mackies head in, then you should aim for Cullernose Point or Dunstanburgh Castle where you can also hit on with Wrasse ,pollack and Coalies.

I would agree with that , sugar sands has dissapointed the last two winters when the seas been lovely......
The open beaches have done better, alreet for the sandancers...
