im going in 3 weeks or so for a weeks holiday, now ive heard theres plenty of productive marks around where im going but me dileema is what gear shall i take?

ive got a 12 ft beach rod and a 9ft spinner... is it worth taking both and risk the wrath of me missus or would i get by spinning or even just using a few lightweight rigs off the spinner ??

any suggestions gladly accepted - particularly if anyone knows how to talk sense to a woman? scratch that its impossible innit

I would definately take both anth. A few spinners and a couple of floats while your beach rod is out. See if you can get the missus interested, beware though if you do she is likely to catch more than you lol.

wouldnt mind if she did fancy a try but shes not remotely interested in the fishing bit

she likes eating the catch which admittedly is probably a better diet than weightwacthers cos i catch bugger all!! :P

right then i\'ve started making some rigs for bonnie scotland - got meself some spinners and bought some sandeels of the rubber variety,
what do you do with em though?

ive hooked them so that the hook passes through the head and exits out of the body....how do you use them thougha on a long flowing trace with 2or 3 eels on or singly on flapper stye rigS??

            cheers anth

anth , youll be better off buying a couple of packs of frozen sandeel rather than the rubber ones. most tackle shops will sell them cheap enough.

doh - i should really ask advice before just going ahead with me cash card lol :P

will they be no good as a spinner-style lure?? thyre the holographic ones and i thought they looked pretty good, i can see em flashing past a big fish and me breaking a shore record ..... then i wake up of course 1!!!

anth, one of my mates was over in sw Scotland a couple of weeks ago and had some good results with those mate. As mick says though I would be taking two or three packets of frozen Sandeels also. Take them in a cooler bag with your ice blocks in though as they don\'t last too long when thawed out.

Anth was over there a couple of weeks ago, Take frozen sandeel, rag and frozen mackeral for your beachcaster. Use your jelly eels for spinning, put a torpedo lead up your line about a foot from your hook. Mate of mine caught a pollock set up like that. If you can get your hands on some jelly shads they might be worth a shot, use red lead heads with them tho\' apparently that\'s the best colour up there Hope that\'s some use to you and have a good time mate!!!

didnt mean to confuse things anth , but stick with the real i am baits when fishing static on yer 2 hook rig or whatever and keep the jellies , rubbers and spinners etc . for spinning and boat fishing.as the lads mentioned.
if you get sick or bored of spinning, you could set a float up hooking a ragworm through the heed or a slither of mackeral

Got a tope off the shore in the Kirkubright region last weeked on a ledgered sandeel. My mate swears it must have been a smoothhound??

It had teeth so a 10lb tope it was and what a scrap

I tie my own lures up for pollack and bass,pm me an addy and I will post you a few to try. They knock the socks off jellytails
