One of my 525mag2 reels is screaming when I cast, have had all the bearings out and cleaned with lighter fluid and re-oiled but no joy..thinking of changing the spool bearings????
What bearings are best and where from
If you do choose to get new bearings, pop into Northumbrian Bearings in Crammy; take the old ones & they'll measure them for you & tell you what options they've got...s/s, ceramic, etc.

COULD IT BE THE RATCHET COMING ON AS YOU CAST, 1 OF MY PEN MAG S DOES IT OCCASIONALLY,, BUT IF IT IS THE BEARINGS THERE IS A PLACE NOT FAR FROM YOU AT BILL QUAY THAT SELL THE BEARINGS
Had the same prob with one of my mag xtras, changed bearings ,tried different ways of putting the line on.In the end got a different spool as the origonal one was well out of balance.
Thorough clean, balance the spool, hump line in middle, both sides and fill level, and make sure you put thick oil on the spindle to stop the bearings spinning on themself. Should work, place at cramlington does the bearings for a couple of quid, get abec 5 stainless, don't waste your money on Ceramics
Set it up with the spool left out and see if the pinion comes back properly when you slot it into free spool if they don't it's time to clean the pinions and spindles up with a bit of fine emery and and oil
You know, a long time ago being crazy meant something. Nowadays everybody's crazy.”
