My first opportunity to go fishing is at the end of April. Catch reports look terrible....
Is late April too early for anything at Dunstanburgh? I'm not thinking mackerel, but more like pollack, coalies, wrasse, codling
i was scratching through catch reports from last year as to when it might pick up and things only really start looking up late may-ish by the looks of it mate
i agree on last post but with a late winter things might not pick up till later on we getting some warm weather but howling winds which are coming west so thats the west coast out question ,think the weekend looking gud for settled weather and warm so hopefully wer might get out and do some fishing atlast
we fished the castle in late march last year and we had coalies to 2lb so def worth a go, however the winter was not as harsh or long last year and by now the sea temp was about 8 degrees.

I'm actually fishing the Point behind the castle early doors on Sat. Probs be chucking big fish baites out in hope of a Doggy or 2 ! And I'll be doing abit float and spinning aswell. Probably nowt there yet, but ill give it a bask anyway.

Thanks for all that... and good luck to youz who are fishing it - hope for some catch reports.
Good to hear you've had a few decent fish up there in the spring, Davey.
I'll be fishing it the weekend after this one unless the weather's awful. Probably stick a big crab bait on the bottom and float-fish with rag for coalies and pollock. Haven't been fishing for so long that I'll be chuffed to catch a crab, to be honest
