  • Granddaughter does the talking.

Fished Amble pier today with my granddaughter, Ashleigh. Had a few bites but didn`t connect with anything, but that`s not why I`m writing. The reason for this post is to let you all know how Ashleigh put some young idiots to shame in front of several passers-by.
We had been fishing for a couple of hours when 3 youngsters turned up and started to fish at the next bench along from us. After half an hour or so Ashleigh said to me that these kids were just dropping their empty crisp packets on the deck and that they were blowing down the pier towards us. The packets and an empty carrier bag got stuck against my tackle box so I picked them all up and put the crisp packets in the carrier. A short while later a couple more empty packets arrived which were also put in the carrier. We carried on watching these youngsters as they cast out without looking to see if there were any people walking past or boats passing in front of them. Eventually they grew bored of fishing and decided to pack up, at which point one of them emptied the remainder of their worms over the side of the pier before throwing the empty wrapper onto the deck so it that it too could be blown down to us. They then started to walk our way and as they came up to us, before I could stop her, Ashleigh went over to them, handed them the carrier bag full of rubbish and told them to take it with them and put it in a bin instead of just throwing it all over the pier. I was expecting all sorts of insults and swearing from them but, to my surprise, one of them took the bag and apologised to Ashleigh and very sheepishly walked away with his mates. We watched them all the way off the pier and saw the lad put the stuff in a bin in the car park. There were several people walking past at the time and two elderly ladies walked over to us and said how brave they thought Ashleigh was for telling these boys off.
I must admit that I was rather proud of her but I told her not to make a habit of it as the next time these idiots might not be quite so terrified of her.

Probably a child pointing this out makes these people realise what cretins they are. Good on her.

            Brilliant well done
In order to become "old & wise", you must first be young & stupid.
Age and experience will beat youth and enthusiasm every time.
Youth and Skill is no match for Age and Treachery.

Love it. You've brought her up well mate. My daughters never drop rubbish and have even went on a little litter pick when we've been fishing. Shame some people are brought up with no brains
