for years the likes of English Nature and other bodies gathered information regarding bait digging, right down to who owned which car and where they where from, etc while anglers just carries on with what they where doing. If angling bodies had known what they where up to we could maybe have gathered our own information in our support, but unfortunately when they first started with their bans we where miles behind and only had word of mouth experiences to combat years of written studies. Obvioulsy years of written studies won the day. A bit different now that we know what the anti angling lot are about and what we have to combat. We should keep a sharp eye on all their web sites and make the info availbale to all anglers, so when they see something untoward they can do something to combat it. It is no good turning a blind eye to what will eventually stab you in the back.Alan

have a look at this.

A report to say that fish don\'t feel pain. No doubt there will be somthing else on the net to say that they do.
Putting info like this on the forum isn\'t giving peta publicity it is giving anglers who bury their heads in the sand a reminder that their are people out there who want to get angling banned and a bit of info from both sides of view isn\'t a bad thimg if they meet some of these anti\'s whilst out fishing

Alan, I fully understand what you\'re saying, and fully support what you\'re saying..But, how many anglers on this site can HONESTLY say they\'ve done something to combat the anti\'s? Micky - you reply with \"spot on\", you put that link up, but what are you gonna do now? Just leave it at that? Or will you go and do something constructive to combat the anti\'s? I have fished matches all over the UK and in Belgium and Holland - I\'ve experienced anti\'s, they\'re an intimidating bunch, and want a reaction from you. It\'s absolutely no good putting that info on a website forum, then sitting back in your chair thinking \"that\'ll show em!\"..Show me their web page and then show me what you\'re prepared to do about it! Are you a member of the NFSA (NATIONAL Federation of Sea Anglers), who work tirelessly to keep tabs on the anti\'s, but without funding, their limited as to what they can do.
All I\'m saying is, it\'s no good keeping an eye on the anti\'s, and at the end of the day, that will be a blind eye. Come up with solutions and ideas Mickey, not publicising Anti-Angling web pages!
Paul.F.
Regarding your point about giving them publicity, I doubt they\'ll get much support from an angling site, do you? So really, the only publicity they\'d be getting on here is negative.
As to actually doing something against them, what do you suggest? You said yourself they want a reaction?? As far as I can see, the best course of action to take is carry on as you are, but with one eye watching them.Davy

the reason i posted a link to the peta website is due to the stupidity of most of their reasoning the more publicity they get the more \"normal\" rational individuals (anglers and non anglers alike) will come to the conclusion that they really are a bunch of idiot extremists.
the recent poll in The Independent proves this point, after publishing interviews with peta members and publishing links to their website they conducted a poll on should angling be banned the result a resounding 99.2% voted that it should not.

Just think it\'s only just over a year ago (I think) when people said at the time of the anti hunting with dogs bill.......they\'ll never start on angling, there\'s too much money in it, and too many people partake of it.
Divide and conquer I think may statement was at the time.As my dad used to say....Man who go to bed with itchy bum......wake up with stinky finger!!!

Anglers do need to get organised to fight this potential threat. This forum is a good starting point for us as a group to express opinions, I think Mickey\'s posts here are important and necessary. I also understand some of the responses to his posts. The anti\'s use Google just like we do and I can honestly say that they will only have heard \"The Good\" side of angling if they ever visit this site. Our stance on conservation, catch and release, best practice, community involvement, open debate, charitable causes etc. is something we should be proud of."I mock thee not, though I by thee am mockéd.
Thou call'st me madman, but I call thee blockhead"
