    Ive always wanted to catch one of these but never heard of any one catching them in hartlepool. has any one ever caught one from hartlepool beach or pier???

      More towards the headland way or blackhall do you know as i fish patron regularly

        Have heard of one or two from Horden /Blackhall area.Several have come off the North pier at Seaham as well.

          i know you mention hartleepool but just down the road a little horden as already mentioned is the best shot imo.

          this month produces a few but settled weather best but will we ever get any again is another question.

          fresh peeler is best bait this month.
          did you know panel pins comes in diff sizes ?

            said this in a earlier thread last august a lad I know had 2 fish boxes full of thornbacks in his nets no more than 500 yards off crimdon caravan park.

            i'm going to try myself this year he caught them in very settled humid weather.

            the guy was ruffly of the second set of steps he said the bigger number of fish came when the weather had been settled for a few days.
            and in august the two best baits crab and mackerel will be easily available

              Had a 5lber from steetly pier a few years ago, but no more around h/pool.

                in the summer they were caught regularly off steetly. i tried once before it was destroyed and saw a large one dropped on a squid bait.

                last summer i wanted to try the beaches around crimdon as i,m certain they must be there.

                definately going to try this summer if we get a settled spell.
