  • casting without due care and attention

Could I just bring to your attention the fact that some numpty has been casting at boats coming into Amble harbour from the pier. Obviously I wouldn\'t have thought it would be anyone from this site as we all tend to have more than the 3 brain cells this person or persons possess. I don\'t know if this occurs on other piers or breakwaters but they could cause someone some serious harm by doing so. I realise that when anglers are fishing from piers they become frustrated by boats coming in and out, but we must understand that they were designed for boats to safely pass in and out and not just us anglers.

You\'re right Red m8. I have heard of anglers having \'a pot\' at jetskiers - particularly from South Shields Pier. However, the skiers have antagonised the anglers first by deliberately coming in close at speed trying to catch their lines and then goading them.
So long and thanks for all the fish! (www.lsbsac.co.uk)

      complete nutters !!!!!!!!!
i know this happens a lot on blyth pier during the macky season, sometimes the yachts have to come close to the pier, and the inevitable always happens, some yourth will always throw a macky at them or even worse start taking pot shots at them with spinners.

was seriously tempted once. fishing shields pier, been there a couple of hours, coupe of other anglers next to me, out comes a rib, stops right in front of us, in between our lines, 2 divers go over the side, then a mouthfull of abuse is hurled at us by the guy left on the boat \"get yer ****ing lines out the water, can\'t you see there\'s divers down\"

was sorely tempted to switch to 80lb braid, string of hokkias and a 12oz pirk to see if I could bage me a diver, not sure what they would taste like though.

decided against it as I didn\'t have a flying gaff to haul one up the side of the pier.

had similar encounters out on the boat, happily fishing over a wreck, quite obvious what I\'m doing, along comes a dive boat, down they go then I get a mouth full of abuse cos there\'s divers down

one day I\'m gonna bag me one and have it stuffed and placed over the mantlepiece

wonder what the british record is for a rod caught diver

My opinion is that each leisure group should respect each other, if you were fishing a place first and are not infringing on peoples access to other spots to dive then those divers should have moved somewhere else.

absolutely, I\'ve extended the courtesy the other way, gone out to a particular mark, seen the dive boat there already so gone elsewhere, divers can be a funny bunch though,

If they came alongside and said \'we\'ve come out just to dive this wreck/reef, any chance of giving us an hour...\' I\'d almost certainly move on

doubt they\'d see it the other way though

theres good and bad with every1 tbh theres 1 or 2 boatts that actually target lines coming out of the tyne thats why ppl get annoyed, must say i have found the divers ok up till now ive even been told where to find huss doggies and smoothies on the north east coast off a diver but that would be telling

IMHO, Iff a boat deliberatley steers towards anglers lines in an attempt to spoil their enjoyment it deserves all it gets. However, iff an angler is taking pot shots at boats for fun he/she isn\'t a proper angler and deserves to be dragged out to sea.

I remember trying out a new rod and reel on Tynemouth beach and loads of surfers decided to surf where i was. Iff they\'d been courtious and asked me to move along the beach i would have as i was just chucking lead and not fishing but they just paddled out and surfed back in in front of a 6 oz sinker flying at them. I did eventually move out their way in the interest safety but got no thanks or acknoledgement

PS I got hit by a sinker up at craster a few years ago and it really hurts like

if someone did get hit with a sinker, whether they deserved it or not, you know who would be to blame and chances are that venue would be closed to angling.

it would be better to take the name of the boat or watch where the jetski\'s launch from then either report their actions or if that fails \"discuss\" the matter at a later date

reporting boats and jetskis is about as much use as trying to get something done about the pots on shields pier, nobody should aim lead at boats! maybe some 100lb line trapped in his prop would make them think twice about snapping lines on pupose

I would have thought braid would do the trick.

Yes I have been deliberatley targeted by boats also. Not a good idea to throw leads at them though.

A boat owner in Amble got a big shock when he did it to someone a few years ago the lad next to me lost his rod and calmly packed up his gear and said \"I know him and I know where he moors his boat\" and proceeded to meet the guy to discuss it with him.
