The penn moveable fittings are grand, you can get them to match any size butt and they seem to be more robust than the abu ones.
Any tackle shop will match the size for you.

Thanks Tim. I was toying with the idea of changing from coaster but was wondering which make of reel fitting to go for. Just ordered the Penn one from Veals for about £15.00 which I don\'t think is too bad. Had a nightmare on Friday with my coasters coming loose and my hands too cold to tighten them enough!

We had this kind of thread before (started by me) I like the fuji because there slim and easy to grip but the penn grips or also very good as there simple to fit and you can move them up and down the rod easy.I would say if you want a fixed position go for the fuji but if you want a sliding real seat then it\'s penn everytime.

I used the Penn screw fitting its great robust and much cheaper than the Fugi Excellent for sliding down for pendulum casting then sliding back up to where you want it the Fugi will have to be fixed with glue or cut and a coaster fitted the Penn is the 100% better option.

I also use the Penn reel seat but find it to be to bulky when I have the reel on the butt of the rod, when using a ABU 6500 reel I have to pack the reel seat so that the reel is gripped, Fuji are now producing a moveable reel seat which is featured on the Greys rods, found that they do not grip the rods extremely well rods need to be built up with shrink tube to get good grip, not tried Abu reel seat as they will not currentley supply them with out a rod and say it will be two years before they do.

I rang Abu regarding the reel seat and that is what I was told as they wanted to sell the new rods they brought out with them first, also asked in local tackle shops and they said that they could not get hold of them.

I have an Abu \"Grip Lok\" reel seat on my Abu Suveran SX rod and it is excellent. However, the rod has a thin rubberised criss-cross section for the reel seat to grip on. I don’t think that the Abu reel seats would grip very strongly(if at all) on a plain rod blank.

I\'ve just got plain Fuji fittings. Build the butt up with tape where you want to site it and then tape it into position. It can be easily moved if you want to change the position.
