  • Marine Conservation Zone - North East Coast

Can anyone help clarify what restrictions we will face if/when the proposed MCZ comes into force for our area? I've been trying to make sense of it but I'm struggling
I fish from the shore, kayak and boat and I'm trying to figure out how I'll be affected, ie will I be able to carry on fishing/taking the odd fish?

no take zones have been scrapped, doubt whether you will be restricted in any way, but nothing has been put down in black and white yet

Thanks for the quick reply. It was brought up at our local club meeting last night but no one really knew what impact it would have. It's just a little scary looking when you see that our entire stretch of coast is going to be a MCZ!!

So does this mean you can still fish and not keep the catch or just no fishing at all

I think, in it's original form, it would of meant a complete ban from both the shore & so far out to sea. Can't see it going ahead now though. There was another thread on here a few weeks ago with more infomation on this issue mate.

It's quite difficult to get a definite answer but I think Alan's reply pretty much sums it up. It doesn't look as if there are going to be many restrictions if any.

Quit now while your still young mate. I've smoked for 34yrs and i'm now finding it very hard to stop. This morning i felt like a junkie going cold turkey
I'm determined to stop this time though.
