          do you have to go in and out at certain times of the tide , cant imagine the gates being opened at low tide to let you back in .

              Roughly 3 hours either side of high water.....or low water...

                  yea, a similar sea on like this had a big tide with it a couple of years ago in me back garden.

                  the sea breached over the blocks at the bottom of the south pier and smashed all the railings.


                  another thing is the gate on the north pier -- ............people seem to think that vandals rip away the fence on the seaward side to get on.


                  its not- its actually the big swells simply ripping the bars away

                  only small tide the day


                  am bloody working away again this week, first time since last year.
                  shame coz i wreckon there will be still the odd decent one showing this week.
                  right place right time this time of the year though innit
                  .

                    No what about at low water and dock full, that's how dock gates work, water pressure on inside of the dock,keeps them shut.the other dock has storm gates to protect the main gates.
