Having defeated me in the Amble open my daughter is up for this comp, especially as she will get a rod to go with the reel she won.
May even get little lad to come down.
Would like details of rules though, I would of thought that kids casting and adults unhooking would have been fairer and safer than the other way round?

as sless says above most of the local club lads are helping so I dont expect there will be any problems with accidents,to be honest I think the competition aspect is secondary its getting the kids together to enjoy themselves and maybe win a prize,no doubt the exact rules will be advertised nearer the time
      Cheers Alan...

My two lads are dead keen, me paying a tenner each for them to enter, and them receiving a new rod each. Taking them out tomorrow for some practice, I\'ll be showing them how to bait up, cast, reel in and unhook a fish (possibly) for the duration of the session, while they look for crab and razor shells and point at boats, I\'ll also be showing them how to carry two rods up and down the pier but they love going fishing!

From what i heard today the only stipulation there is is that the junior must unhook the fish him/herself.they are allowed to have someone cast and retrieve for them, gonna be some long distaces cast, bet the grown ups get the job of reeling in,young uns and sore shoulders dont go to well together
surely that cant be right?????? i hope they let the kids away with baiting up and unhooking fish , its a knocking bet at least 1 little finger will get it .

I forgot to mention that John Amery the England Junior Angling squad manager will be there looking for possible youngsters to join the England team. There will also be some top anglers helping out. There are no restrictions on the youngsters receiving help from anyone i.e. parents etc.they can bait up, cast, tie hooks on, whatever is needed. The only thing that the youngsters must do themselves is, that if they get a fish on they must wind it in,once it is on the beach then they can be helped.
Dave Barham from Total Sea Fishing will be there, there is also a good chance that Sky T.V. will show up.
Thank\'s for that Darren, when you want the entry forms give me a ring.
