  • LETTER FROM THE RNLI

Those of you who were on NESA when we held the Winter Shore Comp from Whitley Bay in 2004, may recall that the £1,000 raised from the comp (and online auction) was donated to the RNLIs\' \"Grace Darling Appeal\".

This was a large scale appeal, looking to raise funds for the bulding of a replacement for the existing Grace Darling Museum in Bamburgh and the buliding of an attached maritime educational centre.

You may have seen on Look North last week, that the work has now started - the news item featured the the (temporary) removal of the \"Grace Darling\" lifeboat.

I recieved this letter from Mike Charlton today and thought You\'d like to read it:

I did,nt take part in the 2004 comp, but well done to all those who did.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible,
but P*****g everyone off is a piece of cake.

With all the bad press that us, as sea anglers, seem to unfairly get, it\'s good to see us portrayed in a good way every now and again.

I like the idea that something we have all contributed to will be here long after us and that our children will (hopefully) be able to take their children to see this, thanks to all of our efforts.

Big smiles all \'round peeps, I think we deserve it
