  • Just Done a Wreckie

Been out tonight looking at a few marks along the Whitburn way, took two lads down to show them a mark then had a little wander.
What surprised me (or did it) was there was no one else down.
After all the fuss about mark X i would have thought maybe the odd one(at Least) off the board would be down checking out some of the low water marks during these big tides.
No, most of you would rather sit in front of the computer and moan about others who do their homework and do not disclose their info on various marks.
its no wonder not many of you seem to catch fish!

Lol Terry. I wish I lived a bit closer to the coast mate, although Swmbo is probably pleased I don\'t. At least she still see\'s me at least one night a week.

          Jim.

Consett mate. Usually about 30 miles to my usual marks.

              Jim.

Living that far from the coast probably makes it difficult for then Jim.

Thers no excuse for some on this board who live closer to the coast than me even, some would be out fishing the cleadon match however looking at the amount of new posts tonight there have been plenty sitting in front of the PC.
Sad Beggers you should be out fishing.
There are still a few codling around, but only if you look for them.

Got to be honest Terry I was going out tonight but I had a bit to do today and it would have been a bit of a rush getting out for bait and back to pick up my wife.

She is disabled and needs me to be there on time with the car. I hate being late and won\'t even try if I don\'t have at least an hour to spare in case of road problems.

                  Jim.

I\'ve been down that way loads lately, checking out potential marks. I tend to go down during the day so that I can take photo\'s and safely get on and off the marks. And yes, there is the odd codling still kicking about (and the odd decent bass )

Like a lot of people on here though, I work shifts and fishing or recce\'s have to revolve around that, which normally means I get out on a Friday night, whether or not the tide and/or sea state is any good

Yes Rob ,same here ,although I do go straight after nightshift sometimes ,I remember dozing off while fishing the quarry hole last year ,so now I just stick to safer marks.
You can take the lad out of Walker but .......

Terry was it not to foggy last night to see any new marks ,were you down on the watersedge or on the tops with a lamp - me and Steve (codonly) fished Smiths and couldnt see South Shields Ferry as the fog was really thick

i have 58 photos of the coast starting from trow going up to the wherry -taken on a 0.02 tide ,about 3 years ago i think ,admittedly some of the gulley`s holes etc might be full of sand now but i still look at them now and again ,probably of more use to someone who can catch Cod ,as you know i am still learning

Must admit i like to go and reccee possible sites the day before i go if i can.
Not always possible as i am a carer for my wife and sometimes i just can\'t get out.
Still,i enjoy a wander along the coast for any reason.
Left her in the car with her sketch pad at Newbiggen yesterday and went for a look see along there, came back freezing cold and knackered but still enjoyed myself.

Bri H, yes it was foggy for a while but not too foggy so as you could not see where you were and it lifted well before bottom water.
Pictures are fine, but you cant beat getting down there at bottom water and chucking a lead with or without bait.

If you take a photo it only shows you the water and perhaps some kelp on the water, if you throw a lead into the bits you think may be good it gives you a bit more to go on when time comes to fish it.

As for some of the replies (not all) saying shifts stop me from getting out, it didnt stop them posting last night. Low water was at 10.37pm so between 8pm and 11pm a lot of sight seeing could be done.

Bri, the likes of yourself do take a bit of time serveying the rock marks and you will find i am prepared and do to share info with those who have got off their backside and done some of their own donkey work.
