  • JUST A PHRASE ??

Just a thought, (after reading another, totally unrelated, post elsewhere on the Board).

Other than in the well known phrase, has anybody EVER heard of a \"can of worms\" ?

Would be a crackin\' idea. Just think - go down to the tackle shop \"six cans of lug, please...oh and a couple of tins of rag aswell, please\".
No more problems with bait going off in the fridge, no smell, no complaints from the wife. You could stock up for the season!

How on Gods green earth have you got time to sit and wonder about things like that Tony ??? You obviously need another hobby m8.
If all about you are catching fish, cast in their swim !!!

TC apparently you can buy cans of \"Whupass\" in the USA. On another note ....................Bait eating stories please! My mate eats maggots, lob / lug and rag worm as a party trick. Oh and he also likes filling his gob with daddy longlegs and letting them fly out again.

        ......Bait eating stories please!
I\'m quite partial to raw cockles. razor fish are pretty good raw too - as long as they are fresh, I\'ve also had the odd raw, and still alive sprat, just to impress the bairns. Quite happy to rip into live prawn too once shelled.

went on a survival/training/development thing once, earthworms fried (bit like bacon rind) and woodlice (bit prawnish).

my fave wierdo thing I ever tried was about 15 years ago in the basque region of france. \'Autolan\" - take one live linnet/canary, keep it in a dark box for 2 weeks with more millet than it could ever manage to eat. After 2 weeks, they drown it in armagnac (what a way to go!) this is essentail as as it gulps its last it fills its lungs with the stuff. It is then plucked and roasted. you eat them whole, in one mouthfull - legs/bones/guts the lot. They\'ve made it illegal throught europe now tho, So me nanas budgie can rest easy.

          Harry,
I think I\'m getting too much of a liking for this 18 year old single malt I got for Xmas, m8 (either that, or I\'ve had too much correpondence with Ell...lol).
Seriously, though - IS tinned lug beyoned the realms of possibility ?
Instead of freezing gutted black lug, why not can them? They stay fresh WITHOUT the need to thaw before use and make storage less of a hassle.
Ell, your mate would love our works canteen, m8

            Lol, Mark...
Seen Jeremy Clarkson a few weeks ago on TV trying \"Autolan\".
Apparently you HAVE to cover your head with a large black napkin whilst eating it !!!

tastes alright but crunching the bones is obviously an aquired taste. If memeory serves it cost about 200 francs back then!

much prefer raw fish, take a lemon and some salt down shileds pier next summer, as your mackeral hits the deck, whip off a very thin fillet before you have gutted it, bit of salt and a squeeze of lemon and chew - you\'ll be suprised how good it tastes

                Right then Tony,

This won\'t help with the \'can of worms\' but just to set your mind at ease with a few other common phrases,

Years ago, I worked with a chap who had married a French lass. He said that when they went out to the sea side she would go straight for the rock pools and start collecting and eating raw shellfish. Her party trick was to suck the innards of a sea urchin out through it\'s mouth/arse hole (both in the same place). Also whilst on holiday, I\'ve seen the French raking shellfish from the sand, opening them and eating them there and then.

Mark, I gather that Tesco do a nice ready prepared pack of sushi. For me, one mans meat is another mans poison.

Can\'t halp wonderin\' - did you look that site up specifically as a result of my post - or did you already have it comitted to your favourites

Anyway, interesting as they are, the above mentions of weird and wonderful snacks haven\'t addressed the original idea - why can\'t you buy cans of worms?
