  • Quiet weekend.

Don\'t usually work on a Friday night but someone needed a swap.

Would probably have been out drowning worms if not for that or so I thought.

I could go out tomorrow night, I could fish the comp on Sunday But just having a \"can\'t be bothered weekend\".

Problem is, I can see it leading to a \"can\'t be bothered month\".

Have been thinking over the last couple of month\'s about packing in the winter fishing and starting to fish during the summer only.

It would be the complete opposite of my fishing habbits of a life time though. Don\'t know what to do.

    Jim.

i think like a lot of us jim you just need a good bag of fish to get the buzz back , ill be hanging my rods up for the winter as soon as i get more than 1 or 2 in 1 sesh ! ( easier said than done) try and finish on a high , it sticks with you longer.

I think alot of people disregard summer shore fishing as being a waste of time basically, however theres always good sport during the summer but probably not where you would fish in the winter,ie Craster, Eyemouth or Portpatrick etc,in your case Jim it does\'nt matter as you have to travel anyway to fish, sounds like you are burning yourself out, spread your fishing out over 12 months,I\'m seriously going to give the Troot fishing a good bash this year,I had a go last year on holiday and got hooked straight away plus my mate is into it to help me out, should be fun .
The fishing has been poor for a good few weeks now and I think alot of people feel the same, the forums are quiet as well so theres obviously not much happening,I\'ll probably feel the same tomorrow afternoon Jim,I was fed up last weekend after catching pin Whiting and Tiny Codling but it gets you out the house after all
              Cheers Alan...

Alan I just got a new fly rod and reel this week mate as I have said for a few years that I was going to take it up. Problem is, that is mainly during the summer month\'s when I intend traveling to Eyemouth and Drummore lol.

I was referring to Craster, Eyemouth or Portpatrick as summer venues

It would be a real shame if this feeling of mutual southern depression was to spread amongst their ranks during the next few weeks. lol. Come on guys, it could be worse - you might have to drive home through the night to be at work for 8.

Oh by the way Jim..... leave my summer codlings alone hehe

shes glad to see the back of me and i dont get any grief.

you\'re not the only one jim, pretty much given up on winter shore fishing, well from these parts anyway, if I\'m up in scotland I\'ll give it a go, but by the end of this winter I bet I\'ll have only bothered on NE coast 2 or 3 times, still got a freezer full of crab and runny I put down in the summer

start tying your own flies jim, great fun! got loads of spare gear, vices and the like if you want some. Bought an old boys collection of fly tying kit on ebay this week - 60 years worth! been having a whale of a time sorting through it all

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.

Jim I moved back down to E. Yorks after 2 1/2 wonderful years of great fishing up in Scotland, but I haven\'t yet managed to talk myself into fishing down here yet (nearly a year now).

I love shore fishing but I know that I ain\'t going to catch anything like I was catching up there (best from the shore a pollack of about 6/7 lbs red cod about the same although it did drop off trying to get it up on to land) and I think I don\'t want the disappointment of just catching pin whiting, or little dabs to put me off for life.

I will go again but just might have to wait till the Smoothies are back and head off down Spurn Point to see if I can catch me another.

                          Stuart
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot. I guess I'm the idiot.

Cheer\'s for all of the comments lad\'s.

David, I was thinking of organising a big comp just before you and Rod come up lmao. Only joking though don\'t think anyone with even the most warped sense of humour would find that funny.

I think half of the problem is that Swmbo will not come with me when I go fishing which is a pity as I have to keep kissing her goodbye lmao.

                              Jim.
