  • Tynemouth Pier Why? What? etc.

I\'m not a structural engineer (at this time of night anyway!) so maybe there is a very obvious and well known reason why Tynemouth Pier has it\'s restrictions in terms of access. If so then fair play, if not then how come it\'s easier to get into the Queen\'s bedroom than on to that place were no man should fish?

Ell, I\'ve moved this topic as I couldn\'t see any reason for this being in the \"Personal Catch Reports\", m8

ell from my limited knowledge of the reasons there is only access for the longbeton n seaton burn club during the day [ weather permitting ] as the waves regulary come over the top makeing it very very dangerouse to fish ,,,we regularly fish on it during darkness as most ppl do after negotiating the fence and its a good place to fish if you know the right places [snag city or easy retrieve ] ide rather fish there than s/shields pier ...ps..another reason could be its in the local CONSERVATIVE AREA LOL ...ide like to think that most anglers who fish there at night are very responsible and rarely have i seen the pier in a mess like s/shields so they allow us to keep fishing there fingers crossed

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.

plain and simple the port of Tyne authority deem that anyone wishing to fish the pier belongs to a club, therefore they know that all people fishing the pier are insured.

Makes sense Alan. What would the situation be with members of the UKSFA? as part of your membership includes insurance. Why the complete closure at night?

                Ell,
The best people to ask about the whys & wherefores of access restrictions to Tynemouth Pier is the Port of Tyne, themselves.

The Estates Manager is Brian Darling and you can contact him at....

Cheers Tony, maybe if you can prove personal insurance they may extend access. Still think opening after dark would be a tough one to crack and that\'s the time you\'d normally be looking to fish it.

I\'ll e-mail him now! I\'m feeling super eloquent (2nd bottle of Merrydown seen off and only two more to go)

                  Arnie kidding likes

Might think about it for later though
