  • 3 Way Swivels?

Can anyone recommend me a 3 way swivel that will stand up to a decent (pendulum) cast?

I'm looking to make up some rough ground rigs with 60lb trace / hook snood to use with my 66lb Power Pro / 80lb leader set up, the idea being for the weight length to cope with power casting but to be the bit that snaps if I get snagged.

Simplest way to do this seems to be with a 3 way but the ones I rmemeber from my youth are the bronze barrel ones and I wouldn't have much faith in them for power casting.

Are there any better ones out there and if so where do I buy them from?

Hi Mate, the rig the Whitby lads showed me for rough ground was just a 60lb mono lead link (rotten bottom system at the business end) and a hooklength, both about 2ft 6" long and each with a loop in the end. They just clipped both loops onto the end of the braid. I was told later the lads I was talking to win a load of matches all over the place and they said thats their main rig for rough ground.

That's practically the same as my braid set up Stuart.
I use 66 power onto a 60 leader, 3 way swivel then 50lb to hook and sinker using loop rigs so I can change them out easy. I don't clip this down so power casting isn't an issue, still get 120+ which in some cases is way too far.
I know you know your stuff so I'm asking, will a blood loop stand a pendulum?
If it will you could tie a blood loop in the shock leader for the snood, and a double overhand at the bottom to atatch your sinker drop.
          Stay safe!
          Enjoy your fishing!

The more I use this set-up the more I'm coming to like it.

With the heavy ground long range set-up I'm thinking of marks like The Wheel on Shields where I wouldn't trust a traditional rotten bottom set-up for the safety aspect but a 50lb "weak link" for a fishing pendulum with 150g will be fine.

I try to have as few knots in my rigs as possible, never used the blood loop but wouldn't have much confidence in one to be honest
