i bought myself the new alvey on saturday with pumping a few blacks in mind went down the yellowtail beds i usually go to just to practice and after a few goes got a couple of big yellowtails, yhe ones that u wouldnt dare go for with a fork cos the water will fill it in in a second. i was pulling the tails off (ooh err) most of them tho. when i came home i found this website www.wirralseafishing.com,which shed a bit of lite on the techniqe. by the way i must have looked like a bit of a t**t. cos everyone else was breaking there backs with a spade.

I use a home made one with a smaller bore. Made from 15mm copper pipe. Like Dave, I use fairy liquid as a lubricant. Works pretty good up at Beadnell.

Have thought about making a pump Mike.far too tight to be buying one and would have more fun trying to make something that might work.have collected some bits from the local scrapyard-old copper pipe inch bore or summit like that and some old valves, stainless threaded bar and some other bits for the sum of ÂŁ3.75 will get to work soon.well at least before 2009 anyways...cheers

Materials used in making bait pump.
15mm copper pipe, 12mm copper pipe, s/steel threaded bar, 15mm t-peice, tap washers, sticky back foam strip to cover handle. Dead easy to make.

RFG, where you from? I am at washington and if I can get mine to you, you can borrow it, strip it down and see how I put it all together.
50 notes, I could have biult 20 pumps for that.
