  • Pennel Pullys

    what length of line is most commonly used to make a pennel pully rig ?
    from weight - to swivel,
    then from swivel to hook (hook length or snood i suppose)
    i know how to make one,
    but i would like a little advice with actual line lengths,
    any help,
    thanks finn;

    Really depends on what type of ground you\'re fishing Finn.

    I use hook snoods from 12\" (for really snaggy ground) up to 36\" for clean, sandy areas.

    Hook lengths I use are:
    12\"
    18\"
    24\"
    36\"

    EDIT:
    Forgot to say.....the \"weight to swivel\" lengths are kept to about 3\" longer than the hook snood.

      I mostly use them for rough ground so short hook and sinker lengths ,no more than 12 inches.

                thanks lads, i dont think that i`m too far off with the ones that i have made then, just made 3 to start with, 30\" + 18\" hook length, i have put a genie bait clip on, should these release ok on impact ? i`m using 2/0 bait holder hooks,
                many thanks, finn ;

                  Should be no problem with them Finn. You can try different things with them as you go, just experiment mate.

                    30\" hook length
                    36\" from swivel to rotten bottom.

                    I will shorten the hook length to about 24\" if fishing a rough sea, and there is plenty of kelp around.
