Hi guys I've been looking at purchasing some braid to go on a large fixes spool reel but what I was wondering is
Can you put braid in any type of spool
I'm just thinking of using it in the rough stuff
why dont u use braid on your multi lots of people do it with good success, 66lb power pro a lad i know uses this on his saltist 30 in the rough ground with a 60lb leader.
i have just got a saltist and will be using nothing but braid on it for the rough ground.
aslong as your using round profile braid it will stop it bedding in.
most decent fixed spools come with 2 spools one for mono one for braid i know the penn surf blaster does, not sure on the difference though.

i was going to use braid on one of my multipliers but i was
was told by a pal of mine that he was using it on a sesh
and he casted out and somehow the braid got caught
around the multiplier handle and bent the solid metal handle!!
that was it for me as all i could think of was me not having a thumb anymore!
braid is great on fixed spools all you need is a metal spool
and a fingger guard and casting is great aswell as the lads have pointed out already!
It's just an old fixed spool reel with plastic type spool it's not an expensive reel not is the braid it was just something I fancied trying for a bit of a change
What would happen to the spool if I did use the braid on it
Dave i use braid on my fixed spool for flatty bashing. I put some backing nylon line on the spool then 17lb braid.
I recently lost the 17lb line so replaced it with some 50 lb braid. Its so thin you can put loads on a small spool.
I have put some on a 7000 multiplyer as well. Worked ok but every slight wave and rod bounced like mad. I have hear stories about the braid catching your thumb when casting with the multiplyer and also it burying itself but i found it ok.

Mick. ps prefer 18 lb mono on my 525.
That's the biggest problem I've found with braid, like Mick says if fishing in a decent sea the rod tips are bouncing like mad due to the lack of stretch.
Other than that though I love the stuff. Like Sea_Troot I've got a Saltist 20 loaded with 66lb Power Pro and an 80lb leader and I've had no problems at all. Casts like a dream, superb bite detection and with a Bimini / Yucatan leader knot you can practically pull the plug out before the 50lb not so rotten bottom goes...
if fishing from beaches in good sea's with briaid it is hard to hold bottom, from what i have seen on the rocks even in good sea's its just like using mono. i think the pro's def outweight the con's for braid.
good luck with the braid
