  • Lincolnshire Peeler Crab - Bait

Has anyone had any experience of the Lincolnshire Peeler Crab baits that are available on Ebay. Apparently they make a range of scents including crab, mussel and razor fish i think.

I\'ve tried the crab variety a couple of times without success, mind you i was also fishing fresh lug and frozen crab in the same session with out success either.

Last September I fished an evening session next to a guy who was using it in conjunction with ragworm. It has a faint smell of crab but a sticky putty sort of consistancy, not an easy bait to use as far as I could see he seemed to have more on his hands than on the hook.
If I remember correctly I had 3 or 4 pound and a half codling on frozen peeler and he blanked. Not that this proves anything but it\'s the only experience I have of it.

that sounds like the stuff I tried.......needed plenty of elastic to keep it on the hook, but it was like using sausage meat for bait.....needless to say it was all over my hands. rod, bait bucket etc....

hi all, that stuff i have heard is dog food with oils added and a mix of rubbish, theres no reel crab in it and its like trying to take chewing gum off ur hook.i tried it on 7 diffrent sessions and didnt even catch a coalie, come on if it cant catch a coalie hmmmmm, second rod was baited with things like mackeral, mussels, squid, razor fish, frozen black lug(good up in the north east) and all got fish, even tipping regular baits with the lincolnshire peller it seemed to put the fish off.for about the same price u can get urself a packet of black lug-that really works.please save ur hard earned cash,

Tried it when it first came out and it was total b*llocks .

I\'ve noticed that he has at least 3 different usernames on ebay and has a lot of testimonials from the NE with people raving about the stuff. I\'d love to know how genuine they are

These artificial baits are designed to catch anglers not fish. definitely not worth the bother! I did however once see an angler catch a 4lb cod at Church point Newbiggin on a legered green plastic worm !
