I use a fixed spool and a century rod 13ft i believe and can cast around 100yards all out.
I've read into 16ft rods can add further distance but which rods would be up to the challenge if i get one.. any one have any experience on this matter?

myself got greys triplex 16ft+penn 8000,you should easily add at least 20,30yds on your casts.mind you have also got a response and akios reel aswell as others, but for distance you cant beat fixed spools+braid.tight lines.

I use a Penn affinity LC with 15lb and 60shock and am still surprised how far i can whack it but my braid spool is empty unsure which braid to buy...(im new to braid as you might guess lol)
I use the 55lb stuff mate, no shock leader required.
You need to seek some decent insurance for when you kill someone!! 60-70lb mono leader should be the minimum for casting 5-6 oz leads. Braid has no stretch, frays easily and is a potential disaster waiting to happen.
