is that you leaving a false scent there terry
No sless just trying to make tony see some sense.

He goes on about virgin marks around the areas Sean was fishing.
If he and others like him were to put some time and effort in trying various marks between Marsden and Whitburn maybe they would start catching a few more fish.
I dont see why an angler who spends a lot of his/her time trying different marks should feel obliged to pass on the results of their donkey work to anglers who wont help themselves.
There are quite a few spots around the Whitburn area which are not regularly fished, in fact i have fished one such mark for five nights off the trot over last weeks small tides at low water and have been quite successful.
So Tony instead of whinging on about mark x go and find some for yourself, thats if you can drag yourself from Northarm/Target or back of the Doors.
If people think you are an idiot, why speak and remove all doubt !

It does\'nt take a genious to work out that if you post on any fishing forum that you have had a very good session at a certain mark, the place is likely to be flooded with anglers the next tide and for a few tides after.
Thats why when I do post a catch report I almost always either leave it for a few days or say somewhere along the north yorks coast.
If \"for example\" (which has happened) the word was out that old crumbly (can only hold 4 anglers comfortably) is fishing it\'s tits off and you drive 30-40 miles, climb down 300ft a cliff to find the place heaving with anglers you aint never seen before all lobbing leads in any direction, you do get a bit pi ssed.
Just take a look at one of my favourite shots \"boiler\" since it appeared in the sea angler (muppet mag), every decent tide the place is chocker with anglers from all over the British Isles, luckily you can see the headlights from the top so you know not to go down, but I aint been able to fish a decent tide there since the back end of November.
The only saving grace is that there are a lot of decent marks to fish that you rarely hear about (loads of mark x\'s) and personaly i hope they stay that way.
So Sean! im all for you keeping your newly found hotspot to yourself (ps.. pm me with the location mate pppllleeeaaassseee) only kidding.
The more mark x\'s there are the more chance you have of stumbling onto one, get out and do some ground work, go along the cliff tops at night looking for headlights, wait for anglers coming back up to there cars and having a chat with them, get yourselfs into good sea angling clubs and ask questions, pm people on fishing forums, and you never know, you might just get to know some of the best kept secrets in shore angling.

And the cardinal sin is to write a report letting everyone know that you have had a few bass, I myself have had 6 bass this winter and I have not put bass in any of my reports, not soley because of comercial fishermen, but also the local netters that plague the place when theres the slightest hint of a bass getting caught there on rod and line.

If people want to keep secrets!!! let them keep secrets that what I say!!!!!!!

Aye Jim I have been on nights mate, you did say Stars sorry and all that
Some good advice there Tala but as you said and Terry not everyone lives on the coast and may have to travel some distance to fish,I suppose some treat these forums as there source of trying a certain mark or maybe they are new to fishing and have\'nt a clue where to fish, its all ifs and buts and this thread could go on forever lol,its been said a few times in these posts but if you dont want people to know where you are catching fish then dont post about a mark x or you could say \"pm me for exact location\" then make your own mind up whether you tell them or not,i\'ve pm\'d people and vice versa regarding catch reports and always had excellent replies from the lads, theres also Red 5 post, just say nowt,as Rory say each to there own, lets face it theres 800 plus members on here and we get a few catch reports a week probably because theres no fish
              Cheers Alan...

i like telling people what ive caught and where ive caught it
it makes no difference to me whatsoever theres very few people
fish the shots i do anyway
but i tell you all this in all my years of fishing the rocks of south tyneside not once have i ever not bean able to get a birth because
this venue fished its tits off the day before theres more than enough
                  room for everyone
i personaly think people are set in there ways and fish the shots
they know best (better the devil you know )
i laugh like f uck to myself when i here the stories of these venues
north and south fishing there tits off now be honest all you sandies
how many times have you gone to these places and come back with
zero i bet its more times than with fish
another thing how many places fish there tits off anyway in the present
climate none around here and even if they did they wouldnt fish two
                  days running
this is from the man who takes his summer holidays the same time of the big tides in july and august who walks the rocks always looking
for new shots when im looking for peelers so i think i know my
                  coast pretty well
ask anyone that knows me i will be as helpfull as i can

                  cheers tony

I have come to tread thread late on but i am new to this game, just over a year since i started again.
Yes i will check the catch page but only as a guide to what marks are out there.
I don\'t just want to catch a fish,i want to know why i caught the fish,or not as the case may be.
I look on the fact that somone has caught from an area as just a possibility,i want to learn what state of tide, wind, season etc all work.
Or at least give me the best chance, surely part of being a fisherman is having that knowledge and using it to catch.
If people expect to just turn up at the latest \" hotspot\" and catch how long will they last before they give up,simply because they have turned up when condations have changed.
I wonder if these people are the scoure of the adverts in the papers for gear that \" has only been used a few times\".
I have found nothing but help and advice from people on this and other forums and find now i am passing on the small amount i have learnt to a mate who is getting into fishing.
                            Long may that spirit continue.
