  • Gut Instinct!

When you gut your catch ( and I haven\'t gutted anything for yonks! ) you get lots of lovely, squidgy, slippery, smelly and bloody fishy bits! - surely this stuff will have a good scent trail and should be good for baiting hooks.
I have tried baiting up with fish guts before but didn\'t catch anything However, I didn\'t catch with conventional baits either, so it wasn\'t exactly a very conclusive test!

Does anyone have experience (success/failure) or an opinion on the use of fish guts for hook bait

Patrick ask any one that fishes blyth beach. You can gut what you catch and it won\"t help. I have caught loads of codling that have been full of small fish. That is all they will take. But you try to fasten one to your hook. Not a chance. Have tried everything so have most of the people on here, but even though it seems right it won\"t work.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Have tried freshly caught fish guts many times over the years, shore & boat, but i\'m still waiting for a bite !!!!!!!!
If all about you are catching fish, cast in their swim !!!

¨Just a point for you guys out there,
Gut your fish when its just been caught dont forget to dispatch it first, the blood runs in to the meat/flesh and makes it a better flavour so an old Coble fisherman told me some years back. Seems to work try it.
