Just got back today from the annual 3 day Auchmithie xmas challenge and the conditions were spot on with a nice sea on but little wind to show for it.dropped the gear at the digs and decided to fish local on day 1 went down to auchmithie beach and Tony got the ball rolling with this nice codling @ 6lb2oz.
on his second cast,i then had one on my 3rd cast @ 6lb4oz
we lost the tide there so had a move to a low water shot where i had another 2 @ 5-3 and 3-0 tony had another 1 @ 5-4 and 2-0 chris got 1 @ 2lb was looking good for the flood but it got freezing so it was back for a drink.
Day two we went to a mark that is now known as \"a mark somewhere on the east coast\" after all the crap that went on before anyway as soon as the tide started ebbing we all had fish,Tony had the first fish again and Chris havasacked him, found a nice deep hole and had 17 to 3lb out Tony had 9 to 5lb+ and i had 5 to 5lb7oz.
day three we got upto thick freezing fog sea was still running nice though as we could hear it from the digs.stopped @ johnshaven but it had dropped to much for there so went up stonehaven way and after a long slog through the snow we got on the rocks and split up with Chris going of to a gulley to our right and me and Tony opting for a nice bay that i have fished before.Tony got the ball rolling again and ended up with 7 all 2lb+ i had 5 to 5-9
then the snow came on really heavy,so Chris came across and we decided it was best we headed down the road,Chris had 4 nice fish out of the gulley including a 4lb and 5lb fish. all in all a good trip and the trophy came home to Scotland with the 6lb 4oz fish taking the honours.
